Every option compared honestly — so you can choose what fits your trip.
Porto Airport (OPO) is located about 11 km northwest of the city center, and there are four main ways to get there. Each has its place — here's the honest breakdown.
The metro is excellent for solo travelers arriving between 6am and 1am with light luggage. The Line E (Violet) runs directly from the airport to Trindade, where you can transfer to other lines. Trains run every 20–30 minutes. Not available after 1am.
Yellow taxis are regulated and generally reliable. However, rates include tolls and vary by time of day, luggage, and destination. Always use the official taxi rank — never accept offers from unofficial drivers inside the terminal.
Uber and Bolt work well at normal hours. During peak times, late nights, or bad weather, surge pricing can make it as expensive as a private transfer — without the benefits. Pickup is from the designated ride-hailing zone outside arrivals.
A private transfer means your driver is waiting at arrivals with your name, helps with luggage, and takes you directly to your accommodation — no stops, no detours. Flight delays? Your driver already knows and adjusts. Fixed price means the cost is the same at 3am as at 3pm.
